Phew, my last post was emotionally BIG, so here comes a list of announcements. Naturally…straight back to business. I am not crying, you're crying.

One of my art friends replied, saying he liked my “Love Letter to Ames”.
I felt that in my soul. O, how I will miss this place and my community!
We will stay connected through Substack. Do consider becoming a paid member. The financial support will go a long way towards helping me find my footing in a new city.
But there is yet time to connect!

(Un)Seen Labor: Motherhood and Care
with Cassie Arnold, Catherine Reinhart, and moderator, Astrid Hilger Bennett
Join us on Wednesday, May 13th at 2PM EDT/1PM CDT for (Un)Seen Labor: Motherhood and Care. What is the value of care? Whose labor is seen, and how does loss impress itself into our bodies? Fiber artists Cassie Arnold and Catherine Reinhart will discuss their artistic practice in relationship to carework, grief, and haptic (hand) practices. From Mom Bras to disassembled baby carriers, this Textile Talk will delve into the interdisciplinary explorations of these two artists as they navigate their identities as artists and mothers.
This event is free and open to the public; registration is required.

Two person exhibition of my and Shanna Merola’s work.
Ground Work Statement | “The collaborative, two-person exhibition Ground Work brings together artists Catherine Reinhart and Shanna Merola through installation, sculpture, photo-collage, fiber art, and performance. Through an examination of invisible labor, grief, domesticity, and resource extraction, they investigate the discarded terrain of unsettled histories. Haunting the borderlands of construction sites, vacant lots, and culverts, they explore thresholds to the unmonumental. In these sites of stalled capital, entanglements between bodies, objects, and landscapes are on the verge of collapse and renewal. These gestures are reflected in techniques of beading, collage, wrapping, and rubbing. Creating a space where brokenness and grief are held alongside verdant (over)growth and renewal. Ultimately, Ground Work serves as a space where alternate histories unfold through our shifting relationships to bodies, labor, and the land.”
Loved meeting internet friends, Kaylan and Dana (from Kinhouse), in real life!
And I was so pleased that my co-exhibiting artist, Shanna, was at the reception!

See ya soon, my lovelies!
